The multifarious use of computers has become a part of life even in the Indian context. This is all the more true for the aged population the number of which is growing at fast pace even in the developing country like India. Apart from the professional uses of computer, the device has a special role in so far as the old people are concerned irrespective of gender.

Leisure time is a critical factor in the life of an aged. In the twilight years old people generally suffer from loss of role and status, and as well as a feeling of isolation and insecurity. Computer is expected to open a vista and horizon hitherto inaccessible to the graying population. A familiarity with the present computer world via Internet or e-mails can produce a mesmerizing effect on the elderlies. Even a short duration of a computer training program is likely to generate keen interest in such strata of population. |

Keeping this backdrop in mind, the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has introduced this specially designed Computer Training Program for the Elderly, 20 senior members of the society have undergone training for 20 working days.
This training program emphasizes on generating an overview of modern computer systems and their relation to day-to-day happenings for our beloved Grand parents. |
